Words of Wisdom – Kungfu Panda

“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present.”

We’ve often heard this quote. And sure we do understand what it means. Yet, how many of us can actually say we fully understood or digested what it really could do to change our lives.

We, human beings, are too often caught up in the rat race. The race to earn more, to buy that condominium, that nice huge car, couture. Sure, there is nothing at all wrong with wanting all that and more. But if you actually sit down and clear your head for a moment and think about the fragility of life, perhaps we would all think twice.

We have also so often heard that it is only in our last days, do we realize the importance of the importance things in our life that we have completely neglected to think about when we were living life?

How often have we actually looked at our loved ones and just take in the beauty of the person? We are too busy answering our client’s calls, making new appointments, thinking about what to do at work the next day. Unconsciously, we have taken for granted our lives that could be taken away from us at a snap of your fingers.

Sure, we always think, “Nah, that wouldn’t happen to me…” Well, if that’s what you’re thinking right now, good luck & have a blast!

I do not wish to live my life regretting just having brushed past the special moments that I could share with a loved one. A laugh, or a smile. Tears of sadness & tears of joy.

We often plan so much for our future, we neglect the present, the NOW. It’s not to say we do not plan for the future but more, when we learn to finally appreciate all we have before us, do we start to plan for our future.

Would you totally miss out on that one chance to watch your kid grow & work long hours of work to finance his/her future education or strike a balance between the two?

Would you dwell in the pains of the past and just allow the world to pass you by and forget the love of the rest of the people who are standing right by you?

At your deathbed, would you want to look back upon your life and regret not having woken up with a smile on your face every single day to greet a loved one?

I choose the present. I choose to wake up every morning, thank God for a brand new day & smile widely for those around me.

“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present.”
