It’s Father’s Day!

To all Fathers out there, Happy Father’s Day!

My dad and I have always had a turbulent relationship. “It’s a thin line between love and hate.” Well, I guess that holds true. Through my growing years, I blamed my dad for favoritism. Even today, I can remember the itsy bitsy teenie weenie stuff I was so angry at him for. But the anger is long gone. Not that he didn’t play favorites, but I just know he did his best bringing me up.

In recent years, I watched him grow older by the day. I also watched him tackle Parkinsons by working out tirelessly. I watched how my mum treats him and how he just continues to love her so much. I watched how he has become a much milder version of the Dad I knew growing up.

I must say, my Dad is amazing! And I love him for the husband he is to my mum and the Dad he is to my sisters and I.

“I believe that what we become depends on what our fathers teach us at odd moments, when they aren’t trying to teach us. We are formed by little scraps of wisdom.” ~ Umberto Eco, Foucault’s Pendulum
