It’s National Day today and I’m feeling rather nostalgic =)
I managed to catch the entire National Day Parade on Channel News Asia here in KL and I’m so glad I did. It’s been a couple of years since I’ve watched the parade at all. It’s a great way to feel all patriotic again.
After being away for a few years now, I have grown to appreciate my home country so much more. The efficiency of the transport and communication network, the safety and security of the country and of course, the stability and multi-racial tolerance that have all been taken so much for granted for. It is so easy to forget that we, as Singaporeans, are a privileged bunch. It is so easy to complain about the nitty gritty when all we have to do is just look at our neighbours for an entire different story.
We forget to be gracious and thankful.
Nonetheless, it is my Home and I am utterly proud to be Singaporean.
