Family Matters

Like I’ve mentioned before, I was back in Singapore for just about 2 days to be with my sister on her 21st birthday! I was suppposed to be working here in Malaysia but I decided that my sister’s 21st only comes once in a lifetime and it was something I didn’t want to miss. I had an awesome day with her and to my surprise, my 2nd sister also took half day leave to be with her.

Now that I am always in Malaysia, I have come to appreciate my home country and my family alot more. I miss them alot and sometimes it brings tears to my eyes. It’s a good thing they are only a 45 minute flight away so it’s really not so bad.

“You didn’t ask for them, you can’t change them, and yet of all the people on earth they’re likely to know you best and be the most important to you.”

“To the outside world we all grow old. But not to brothers and sisters. We know each other as we always were. We know each other’s hearts. We share private family jokes. We remember family feuds and secrets, family griefs and joys. We live outside the touch of time. – Clara Ortega”

And that’s why my 21-year-old sister will always be my baby sister.

And when your baby sister asks if she can get helium balloons and how many, on her 21st birthday, you really can’t say no and you can only think “Go knock yourself out, babe! you’re only 21 once in a lifetime!” And hence, the big bunch of helium balloons which she had to lug from Ion Orchard through Orchard Mrt Station through Wisma Atria. We had a fun time laughing in embarrassment though.
