Day 9 – Ho Chi Minh City

Did away with the Cu Chi Tunnels… went with SHOPPING!! It’s shopping paradise =) Nike air max for 650,000VD and I hadn’t haggled yet =)

Missed breakfast at the hotel coz it ends at 0930hrs!! Decided to eat prawn noodles at Ben Thanh Market … it was yummy but cost double of what we were accustomed to paying ~ 45,000VD per bowl…

Visited the Cathedral Notre Dame and the General Post Office, Opera House, and People Committee Hall =)

Had to go check out a viet supermarket and on the way back to the hotel, spotted a vintage watch shop! Check out my $70 buy for a really BRANDED watch – Audemars Piguet *low whistle*

The people are always nice here =) but here in Ho Chi Minh, it’s difficult to haggle. The shopkeepers are more resilient to haggling!

Had a bit of fun coz they speak more English here…

Took a cab to Giang Nam (Jiang Nan Fan Dian) and found it serves Chinese food! And the best part was that the folks there spoke Cantonese! It certainly felt great to finally be able to converse with people ‘efficiently’!

The food was simple fare – like a home cooked meal of Kai Lan with oyster sauce, salted fish with eggs and pork, roast pigeon, Chinese Bo lei tea and double-boiled rice in really small bowls!

Walked to Cholon, HCM’s Chinatown, that just sparkled with CNY goods! CNY everywhere is pretty much the same =) same red packets, same red gold hanging deco etc…

Our Stash :

Papaya Tees… more viet tees… Che cap, Jack keychain for a small fraction of what it really costs in SG… ear studs etc…
