Letters to my heavenly Father

Heart of Worship by Hillsong United

Heart of Worship

This song has been on repeat for a while now. Always quietens my heart.

When the music fades
All is stripped away
And I simply come
Longing just to bring
Something that’s of worth
That will bless your heart

I’ll bring you more than a song
For a song in itself
Is not what you have required
You search much deeper within
Through the way things appear
You’re looking into my heart

Chorus
I’m coming back to the heart of worship
And it’s all about you
It’s all about you, Jesus
I’m sorry Lord for the things I’ve made it
When it’s all about you
It’s all about you, Jesus

King of endless worth
No one could express
How much you deserve
Though I’m weak and poor
All I have is yours
Every single breath

ESV Study Bible: Day 3 & Looking Back

Contentment

Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling… Blessed are all who take refuge in him. ~ Psalm 2:11-12

I read this the other day and didn’t quite have the time to write about it here.
Reflecting on these 2 verses, I cannot help but think back to the many bumps and obstacles I have encountered in my life. My life is pretty dramatic. No kidding. But then again, I know for a fact, I’m not the only one with a dramatic life. God has never given me all I have asked for. But I trust and know that He has and will always give me what He thinks is best for me. My good friends can attest to this. They gape and laugh (perhaps) and shake their heads sadly and sit with me and watch me cry in times of trouble. And when I’m better, we look back and know that God is good.

I might not have the perfect life now, but hell, I have no complaints and what is the perfect life? It can definitely be better, no doubt. But I couldn’t ask for more.

But godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. ~ 1 Timothy 6:6-7

ESV Study Bible: Day 2 & The Truth About Inner Beauty

The Truth About Beauty | PhyQuirks

A month or so ago, just before I was baptised, I got caught in the middle of a very ugly situation, one I look upon still with utter disgust and disappointment. I experienced first hand, how a pretty face combined with a cold cruel heart could appear so ugly in my eyes. So much so that I don’t want to even look at photos of this person anymore. It felt as though my eyes were veiled by some kind of truth/untruth.

The moment when I fully understood the importance of inner beauty. And that no matter how much of a pretty face you are on the outside, it don’t matter coz (poke chest) it’s what’s inside that matters most.

There is no hatred. Just utter disgust and disappointment that a human could treat another human in such a demeaning and condescending way. No doubt we see stuff like that in the news all the time, but hell yeah, it has to hit so close to home for some of us (read : me) to realise how real and cruel this world is.

And the fact that this person continues to be allowed to behave in such a way, with no care for consequences and discipline,… that just makes me sick in the stomach.

Rage. Jealousy. Utter Contempt. Scot-free (for now).

Psalm 1, The Way of the Righteous and the Wicked

Blessed is the man
who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
but his delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on his law he meditates day and night.
He is like a tree
planted by streams of water
that yields its fruit in its season,
and its leaf does not wither.
In all that he does, he prospers.
The wicked are not so,
but are like chaff that the wind drives away.
Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;
for the Lord knows the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish.

Therefore,

ESV Study Bible: Day 1 – A Time For Everything

Ecclesiastes 3:1

So I recently bought myself a Crossway ESV Study Bible at the recommendation of my Pastor. And it is one of my BIG goals for 2016 to read the bible conscientiously and regularly.

Today’s reading couldn’t have come at a more opportune time.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, A Time For Everything

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
a time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
a time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
a time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
a time to seek, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
a time to tear, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
a time to love, and a time to hate;
a time for war, and a time for peace.
