FRAGILE!

Ever seen those FRAGILE! stickers in bold red and white, stuck on check-in luggages or parcels on the baggage claim conveyor belt?

If each of us saw stickers like that stuck on others’ hearts and realised how fragile relationships are, perhaps the world would be a happier place.

Despite the lack of language barriers, we are lost in translation.

Broken hearts. Broken relationships. Broken languages. Broken marriages. Broken families. Broken kids. And the list goes on.

It’s a chain effect. And even worse, a vicious cycle that keeps repeating itself. Can’t anyone see that?

“On this day, God wants you to know … that peace will come when you let the presence of God settle into your heart.
If there is to be peace in the world, there must be peace in the nations.
If there is to be peace in the nations, there must be peace in the cities.
If there is to be peace in the cities, there must be peace between neighbors.
If there is to be peace between neighbors, there must be peace in the home.
If there is to be peace in the home, there must be peace in the heart.”

And when we all realise the vicious cycle, perhaps then we would all look in the mirror and tell that person we see that we are the only ones who need to be fixed. The ones who aren’t perfect. The ones who are the cause of it all.

The 100% – 0% theory.
The “We must be the change we want to see in the world”.
The Zen we are all looking for.
The happiness.

And right about now, I feel a familiar mind-numbing fist-clenching ache in my heart. The familiar hot tears in the eyes.

Yet this time, it isn’t out of pity for me. But for the sadness I feel about the others who can’t see this. And yet, I feel the humility of just being human, so imperfect, at a loss of words and lack of wisdom.
