Covid-19: The Times We Live In

Covid-19: The Times We Live In

Covid-19 has turned our lives upside-down and inside-out, much like how we shake out loose change in our dirty laundry before dumping it in the washing machine. There are days when I feel like that piece of dirty laundry being shook – unsettled, kinda lost and somewhat directionless. Of course there are better days – ones where my head is filled with purpose and plans. But, today is one of those days that sits right on the fence between the “shaken dirty laundry” days and “purpose-filled” days – me trying to get out of the rut of shaken laundry but yet unable to reach the purpose-filled high. So here I am, writing in my blog after almost 2 years in a somewhat melancholic state.

Anyone feel me?

9th May 2018 : A Moment to Hold Dear in the History of Malaysia

9th May 2018 : A Moment to Hold Dear in the History of Malaysia

Malaysia has been home for almost a decade now. And I have never been quick to call it Home. But 9th May 2018 made tears well up in my heart, and come to my eyes. This day made all the difference.

This general election 14 has caused quite a stir, everywhere and in my heart. I was contented to be a spectator, a bystander but was stirred by the never-say-die and fervent prayerful friends. They were so hopeful, I couldn’t bear to pour cold water and dampen their spirit.

But today, I stand corrected, and proudly so. For the fervent prayers of many Malaysians have been answered. God has prevailed. I have learnt the power of prayer, the power of solidarity and that justice does prevail. And of course, that everything happens in His time. This time, He knew the Malaysians were ready.

For now, I am going to revel in the joy of the turn of the tide in this beautiful country and celebrate with my Malaysian friends.

Last Day of CNY

Last Day of CNY

It’s the last day of CNY. Had a hurried trip to SG to have dinner with my parents as well as to kinda celebrate my dad’s birthday. But the whole 15 days of CNY was a flurry of activity that passed way too quickly. Till next year!

Dayre closes. So what’s next?

Dayre closes. So what’s next?

So Dayre is closing. What’s next?

When I was using Dayre, I hated the way it made me type short paragraphs and post. It made me summarize what I had to say. It did a number of annoying things that, ironically, now that it’s about to be gone, I kinda miss now.

Oh life!

So I see some more popular Dayreans have gone on to start their own WordPress blogs again. I guess for me, the biggest part of Dayre I will miss is its hashtags and the people of the Dayre community. It gave us writers an instant audience, no matter how small. It created a community of people who turned to each other’s dairies for notes, advice etc.

But oh well, the good things in life don’t last. Another one bites the dust. Hopefully with this mobile WordPress app, I can keep up my daily rants. 🤣
